Topland and First Base to rejuvenate Brighton landmark

Topland, which acquired Hilton Brighton Metropole Hotel in 2011, and First Base have unveiled plans to redevelop the iconic property, undertaking an extensive refurbishment of all the guest rooms and public areas. The local landmark will be carefully restored to protect its heritage whilst giving the buildings a new lease of life. If confirmed, the multi-million-pound investment would make a significant contribution to the ongoing regeneration of Brighton’s seafront.

William Davies, Director at Topland commented: ‘This agreement, once finalised, will represent a considerable investment into one of Brighton’s best-known landmarks. The plans will support the city’s intention to enhance its reputation as a top tourist destination and help its economy to evolve from being seasonal to one that is sustainable throughout the year.’

Barry Jessup, Director at First Base said: ‘We are already committed to Brighton, where we are currently delivering over 100,000ft² of commercial space, over 250 new homes and leisure facilities. Working alongside Topland, we look forward to breathing new life into such an iconic Brighton landmark to secure the Metropole’s future success and deliver social and economic benefits to the city.’
