Scannell strengthens team in Germany and Italy

Scannell Properties has hired Sophie von der Wiede, an experienced architect and project manager, as Development Manager for Germany to support its ambitious growth plans in the country and confirms the appointment of Maria Assunta Galluzzo, in the role of Legal Executive, Italy. The recruitment follows announcements on two major developments in Bologna and Rome and confirms the company’s commitment to further growth in the Italian market.


New hire for German expansion drive
Sophie von der Wiede will join the company on 1 December 2020 from Segro Germany GmbH, where she worked as a Project Manager in Düsseldorf for three-and-a-half years. Sophie will have responsibility to manage both BTS (‘built-to-suit’) and speculative logistics projects across Germany and will be based in the company’s Düsseldorf office.

With a first degree in architecture and a master’s in real estate and construction project management, she will bring twenty years of experience in project development, design, planning, and architecture in the commercial property industry. As Development Manager, she will coordinate projects from tender to implementation. She will also set up teams for the project site, select and negotiate with construction contractors and other providers, and manage information flow.

Further significant recruit in Italy
Maria Assunta will join the company’s legal group and will be based in the Milan office, with responsibilities for providing commercial guidance and implementation with respect to the company’s legal affairs. promoting the realisation of the company’s acquisition, leasing, development, financing and other transactional activities. She will deliver expert and strategic legal advice to management and provide creative problem-solving inputs that cut across legal and commercial disciplines.

After starting her career in Telecom Italia SpA, Maria Assunta gained twenty years of experience in the Real Estate M&A department of Gianni, Origoni, Grippo, Cappelli & Partners, a leading international law firm consulting in real estate, corporate, commercial and banking sectors.
