Bayer signs lease agreement in Gdańsk

Bayer has decided to locate its new Finance and Accounting Center in Gdańsk, in the Olivia Business Centre (OBC). Jones Lang LaSalle has supported the entire process of searching for location in Poland, as well as negotiating the lease agreement. The process of launching the new centre and employee recruitment will have been completed by the end of 2012. In the long term, the company will occupy around 2,500 m² of prime office space in Olivia Tower, which is currently under construction. The centre’s first employees will start work as soon as the end of September, temporarily occupying around 400 m² of office space in Olivia Gate. The acquisition of 1,200 m² of office space in Olivia Tower is planned for January 2013, and the acquisition of another 1,200 m² no later than the end of 2014. Bayer will occupy the 7th and 8th floors, which will be connected with an internal staircase, used exclusively by the company’s employees.

The centre will serve Bayer companies located in the CEE region. The main purpose of the new organization structure is the standardisation of accounting processes and the centralisation of operations and management. SCG’s main goal is to contribute to making Bayer's accounting more flexible and efficient, as well as to enhance international competitiveness while safeguarding existing quality levels. The unit will offer employment especially to accounting specialists with foreign language capabilities. SCG was supported by the local institutions: InvestGDA, the City of Gdańsk and Pomeranian Voivodship Office. The main regional partner coordinating the project was a team of Invest in Pomerania.

Remigiusz Wojciechowski, Head of Service Center Gdańsk (SCG), said: ”The availability of modern office space, as well as the access to qualified graduates and professionals, were one of the main reasons for locating our centre in Tri-City. Choosing Olivia Business Centre is another milestone on the way to launching our operations. I would like to stress that it is the result of several months’ work, and express our gratitude to the parties involved in the process - Jones Lang LaSalle and OBC developer –TPS. Currently, we are focusing on the recruitment process – ultimately, the centre will offer more than 200 new jobs. Working at SCG presents a perfect opportunity to gain professional experience in an international corporation with a globally recognized brand.”

Magdalena Reńska, Head of the Jones Lang LaSalle Office in Gdańsk, commented: “It is a pleasure to cooperate with companies entering the Tri-City market. It is with pride that we observe how office space on this market finds tenants among some of the most renowned global companies. It only confirms the high quality of the office space on offer. On the whole, the Tri-City office market offers approximately 370,000 m² of office space, 35,000 m² of which account for the most modern office space readily available to tenants in different parts of Tri-City. It is a significant number, which can encourage potential tenants to consider Tri-City and allow them to choose a suitable location.”
