Terence O’Rourke wins two UK hotel awards
National planning and design consultancy Terence O’Rourke Ltd and Blue Forest have received a double honour at The International Hotel Awards 2011 in association with Bloomberg Television, for their excellent work at Chewton Glen.
Terry Williams, Technical Director at Terence O’Rourke, said: “We are thrilled that our work in the hotel sector has been recognised at a national level in two award categories. Our success in both the Best Hotel Architecture and Best Small Hotel Design and Construction awards independently acknowledges the high calibre of work our teams complete on behalf of clients.”
Due to the challenging nature of the planning and design work required for the innovative Tree House Suite project at Chewton Glen, Terence O’Rourke was contracted to oversee the luxury development, in the grounds of this award-winning hotel.
Located in one of the secluded wooded valleys within the 130-acre grounds of Chewton Glen, the unique development includes the construction of six individual residences each containing two large suites. Supported on stilts with their balconies level with the trees, they are designed to appear as if they are floating across the wooded valley. The 12 individual suites will provide accommodation for guests who wish to enjoy the facilities and luxury of the five-star hotel, while savouring the additional freedom, privacy and seclusion of the Tree House Suites.
The consultancy worked closely with Chewton Glen and the designers of the Tree House Suites, Blue Forest, to identify the key issues associated with the project and are currently on site for the construction phase, due to be completed in the summer of 2012.
The International Hotel Awards 2011, in association with Bloomberg Television, is an event that is part of the International Property Awards which have been established for 18 years. Attaining one of these coveted awards is indisputable evidence of the winner’s expertise within the extremely competitive UK hospitality arena.
