Redevelopment of C&A store in Rotterdam’s Alexandrium centre completed

Redevco has successfully redeveloped the C&A store in the Alexandrium shopping centre in Rotterdam. The result is a much expanded, high-quality store offering 3,100 m² of retail space designed to meet the needs of tomorrow’s customer. The store was officially reopened on Friday 7 September.

As part of the redevelopment an extra retail level of 1,100 m² was added to the C&A store, bringing the total sales area to 3,100 m², spread over two floors. The façade and outer walls were completely renovated and the energy performance of the building improved from an E label to a (draft) A label.

On the initiative of C&A and in close cooperation with Noordwijk-based architects Architectenbureau Van Manen and the Bunnik-based construction firm J.P. van Eesteren, the store was given a completely new second sales floor. Construction work started in February 2012 and was completed at the end of August.

“The success of the project is another example of how closely we work with our tenant. The expansion and renovation of this excellently situated retail property confirms our strategy of investing in locations that are attractive to customers,” says Clemens Brenninkmeijer, Managing Director of Redevco Nederland.

The project in Rotterdam’s Alexandrium centre is in line with Redevco’s redevelopment programme aimed at refurbishing the retail properties in its portfolio in order to stay ahead of tomorrow’s needs.
