Queen Mary University let out student accommodation to Olympic committees

Queen Mary University in East London has let out its student accommodation to Olympic committees from across the world. ISS Hotel & Leisure in UK will be looking after the contract, which commenced in June 2012, for three months throughout the Olympic Games and will service around 850 bedrooms, many shared kitchens and communal areas. 80 housekeepers will cover a seven day operation managed by a dedicated site manager.

Ed Bolton, Managing Director ISS London said: – With just three weeks between our appointment and the start date of the contract, including a long bank holiday weekend, times were tight, but we needed to find staff to deliver the contract for us. We worked closely with two local organisations to help people in their local community back into the workplace. As a result of three days worth of interviews, we employed a total of 57 candidates through the two organisations.

With many new hotel contracts being won by ISS Hotel & Leisure in the UK, they hope to continue many employees’ contracts through the rest of the portfolio.
