Prologis to lease 57,000 sqm in Benelux
Prologis announced its leasing activity during the first quarter of 2012. The developer signed contracts totalling approximately 57,000 square metres (613,563 square feet) in the Benelux. Leasing activity in Rotterdam, which Prologis continues to consider a strong market, was solid during this period. In the Rotterdam area, leases comprising more than 16,000 square metres (172,223 square feet) were signed with several companies, including Rotterdam-headquartered Odin.
In addition to Rotterdam, the southern region of the Benelux also performed well in the first quarter. In the Belgian region of Antwerp, a new contract was signed in Willebroek for more than 15,000 square metres (161,458 square feet). In the Netherlands the southern cities of Tilburg and Moerdijk also experienced good demand, with total leasing of more than 25,000 square metres (269,098 square feet).
In March 2012, Prologis expanded its Docdata distribution centre in Waalwijk with the acquisition of 7,145 square metres (76,911 square feet) of additional logistics facilities. The complex, which was acquired last year, now measures approximately 30,000 square metres (322,928 square feet). Prologis handled this transaction on the behalf of its Prologis European Properties Fund II.
