Portuguese headquarters of Microsoft sold to a private investor
CBRE has sold the new Portuguese headquarters of Microsoft to a private international investor on behalf of Pavilhão Virtual S.A. The transaction was completed in just over three months and represents the largest single investment transaction since the beginning of the year in Portugal. The 6,211 m² building is situated in Parque das Nações, a major regeneration development in northeastern Lisbon next to the Tagus estuary, formerly used for mainly industrial purposes. In the largest leasing transaction of 2011, Microsoft took the entire building, which is now named Microsoft Lisbon Experience. The software and technology multinational was advised by Jones Lang LaSalle.
Mariana Seabra, Director of Office Agency and Corporate Solutions, JLL, added: „In order to structure this deal, Jones Lang LaSalle has worked in cooperation with Microsoft by analysing the conditions of this space, so that it was best suited to the needs and requirements of Microsoft. The Pavilhão Virtual was the space that best fulfilled these requirements, because it is an emblematic building which as well as being well located is also at the same time efficient, flexible and technologically rich.“
