Pieter Hendrikse new Chairman of Green Rating Alliance

Pieter Hendrikse, CEO of CBRE Global Investors EMEA, has been elected Chairman of the Green Rating Alliance for the year 2012, succeeding Pierre Vaquier, CEO of AXA Real Estate. The Executive Board to lead this non-profit organisation further comprises Eric Donnet (AEW Europe), CEO, who is supported by David Short (GE Capital Real Estate Europe) and Christoph Wildgruber (Allianz Real Estate) both deputy CEOs. Leo Weidenaar (CBRE Global Investors) is CFO, and Mickael Sigda (Bureau Veritas) is the General Secretary.


Sander Paul van Tongeren (APG) has been confirmed as Green Rating Alliance Program Manager, facilitating member activity development.

Pieter Hendrikse said: “The Green Rating Alliance has helped the industry take major steps in improving and monitoring the sustainability performance of existing buildings. I am looking forward to supporting the industry Alliance as it brings further consistency and transparency to this important issue. I want to build on the achievements so far to help the organisation become the leading association in Europe on green rating of existing buildings. All property stakeholders have a responsibility in the usage of space and by working together we can work towards sustainable real estate. By focusing on existing buildings the Green Rating Alliance approach is in line with a number of investors’ and tenants’ strategies on how to best utilise their already existing square metres”.

Green Rating Alliance is an industry initiative aimed at promoting sustainable real estate. Over the last three years, it has developed a cross-border measurement and decision making methodology on environmental performance of existing buildings, assessing six million m² of office, logistics and retail assets in more than 100 cities in 16 countries, which represents € 17 billion gross asset value (GAV).

The Alliance has 19 members and contributors as of the end of 2011, with leading companies such as AEW Europe, Allianz Real Estate, AXA Real Estate, Bureau Veritas, CBRE Global Investors, GE Capital Real Estate, KanAm Grund, LaSalle Investment Management, Alamo, Bouygues Bâtiment, Cegereal, Drees & Sommer, Elan, IPD, Johnson Controls, Schneider Electric, Socotec, WSP and Yxime.
