Peel’s Burgess Farm plans approved

Peel’s plans for Burgess Farm, a residential development comprising of 350 houses in Walkden, Salford, were approved by the Secretary of State last week.

The Burgess Farm scheme also involves the creation of two nature parks on land adjacent to the housing which will include family houses and affordable housing. The overall site area is approximately 18 hectares of which about 13 hectares would be developed for the housing. Vehicular access to the development will be from Hilton Lane and there would be footpath links to Newearth Road.

Louise Morrissey, Director of Land & Planning at Peel said, “We are very pleased the Secretary of State has approved our plans for Burgess Farm. We hope the development will go some way into helping to eliminate the housing shortfall in Salford whilst also providing much-needed open space for all to enjoy. Burgess Farm will deliver new homes and secure vital growth and jobs for Salford. The decision was made in line with National Policy."
