Hubert Burda Media moves to Berlin’s Potsdamer Platz
Hubert Burda Media has signed a long-term lease with SEB Asset Management at Potsdamer Platz in Berlin. The Daimler automotive group’s Mercedes-Benz sales centre in Potsdamer Strasse 7 will serve as the publishing and media group’s new Berlin offices from 2014, once all of the Burda units concerned have made the move.
After Daimler’s sales centre moves out, the Berlin offices of “Focus” and “Bunte” magazines, Verlagsgruppe Berlin, which owns “SuperIllu”, “Guter Rat”, and “StarNet One”, a company belonging to Burda Intermedia Publishing, will successively move into the Potsdamer Platz offices in the capital. The “Focus” Berlin office will move into premises in the nearby Potsdamer Platz 11 building before the end of the year as an interim location.
The Quartier Potsdamer Platz complex comprises 19 buildings spanning different types of use – office, administrative, retail, residential and hotel buildings, entertainment facilities, and catering outlets. More than 480 national and international companies have a presence here. The Quartier Potsdamer Platz, which belongs to the SEB ImmoInvest open-ended real estate fund, was awarded a German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB) certificate in silver for sustainable urban quarters in October 2011.
