Gazeley invests in Doncaster with £500,000 play-park
Gazeley has commenced the construction of a £500,000 Multi User Games Area (MUGA), close to its G.Park Doncaster site, locally known as West Moor Park, in South Yorkshire. The construction of the MUGA is the first step undertaken by Gazeley since planning for 139,354 m² (1.5 million sq. ft.) of logistics and distribution facilities was granted by Doncaster Council in December 2009 and marks the official start of development to the wider G. Park site.
The 2,044 m² ( 22,000 sq. ft.) MUGA, located off Wickett Hern Road in Armthorpe, will include a host of modern facilities for the younger members of the Armthorpe and wider local community, including skateboard park, BMX track, toddler’s play area, over five’s play ground, as well as an enclosed games area for basketball and football matches. It forms part of Gazeley’s wider investment in the area, which will also see significant improvement to existing bus routes surrounding West Moor Park and access to the site from the M18 motorway.
G. Park Doncaster is located at West Moor Park, an established distribution location on Junction 4 of the M18 in Doncaster. The scheme already has over 232,255 m² (2.5m sq ft) of existing distribution development with occupiers including Next, Ikea, Scotts Miracle Gro and Fellowes Distribution.
Bruce Topley, Senior Development Director at Gazeley UK, comments: “This play-park represents an important investment in the local area for Gazeley. Once the infrastructure is in place, G. Park Doncaster will be ready to cater for a range of build-to-suit warehouse requirements; it is in a prime location within the established West Moor Park Industrial area, with excellent access to the major motorway systems (J4 M18) and as a result we have already received a great deal of interest. As well as improving facilities for youngsters, we anticipate over a 1,000 jobs will be created for the local community.”
Gareth Morgan, Sector Growth Manager (logistics) at Invest Doncaster, adds: “The start of the MUGA development marks a significant milestone in the growth of one of Doncaster’s most important industrial sites. Gazeley is committed to ensuring the growth of West Moor Park benefits the local community and we’ve been working closely together to make sure these requirements are met, whether it’s through the creation or jobs or the improvement of local amenities.”
