Castorama Diy store opens at Magnolia Park in Wroclaw
On 15 February 2012 Castorama Diy store offering an extensive range of building and home improvement products will open at the Magnolia Park shopping center in Wrocław. Taking up an area of 10,200 sq m, the store is located in a newly constructed building in the south-eastern part of the center. A rooftop car park for 500 vehicles will also be provided for visitors’ convenience. This marks the completion of the second phase of Magnolia Park expansion program.
The Magnolia Park expansion process began in March 2011, consisting of two simultaneous phases. Thanks to the enlargement of the mall by an additional 869 sq m under the first phase, a two-level H&M store totalling 1,728 sq m opened in October 2011. The second phase entailed the construction of an additional 10,200 sq m in the south-eastern part of the scheme, where the Castorama Diy store is now located, with a rooftop car park offering 500 spaces also added.
The new owner of Magnolia Park, Blackstone Real Estate Group, believes that the full potential of the shopping centre has not been realised yet and so intends to continue the expansion of the scheme. The launch of the third phase, subject to required permits, is envisaged for Q4 2012, with completion to take place by the end of 2013. As part of the investment program, the owner plans to add up to 20,000 new sq m to Magnolia Park’s current GLA, in order to be able to offer a wider variety of retail brands, including fashion brands to be introduced to Wrocław for the first time. New restaurants and coffeehouses will also open in the new segment and the mall’s entertainment facilities will be enhanced, giving the residents of Wrocław access to new, family-focused leisure options unmatched in the entire Lower Silesia region.
“We are very pleased with the Castorama Diy store joining the family of tenants at Magnolia Park, and also with the timely completion of another stage of our extension project. Our ambition is to deliver the best choice of brands and an unmatched shopping experience to the customers, which is why we decided to carry out an additional development phase, planned to commence at the end of 2012”, said Paul Kusmierz, Principal of Master Management Group.
