Amazon Court wins a major new tenant
One of the leaders in developing and manufacturing highly innovative pharmaceuticals, biotech firm Genzyme has become the new tenant in the Amazon Court administrative complex in Karlín. The new offices will house not only the company’s Czech and Slovak branch but also the management of the ECE region (East Central Europe = Czech Republic, Hungary, Russia, Slovakia). In negotiations with the project’s developer Genzyme, which specializes in the treatment of genetic metabolic disorders and other rare diseases, was represented by the consulting firm DTZ. Its Prague office was tasked to move the company from the unsatisfactory offices in Palmovka to a modern building that meets the global requirements of the Genzyme corporation – allowing excellent facilities for employees, good accessibility and a high technical standard of the building. All this, of course, at the most favourable lease terms. Employees of Genzyme will be moving into Amazon Court in June and will occupy an area of approximately 700 square meters.
“Given that our global headquarters in Boston is in an architecturally interesting, modern and energy efficient building (winner of the Platinum Award for Environmentally Friendly Building), we searched for a similar equivalent in the Czech Republic. Amazon Court meets our requirements not only in its conception but also its modern design corresponding to the innovative nature of our company. Moreover, it provides excellent access to the centre and the airport, as well as a pleasant working environment and quality services for our employees,” said Jana Markovičová, Finance Director ECE, Genzyme.
The multifunctional Amazon Court building was opened in September of last year and is the third in a series of successful projects in the River City Prague complex on the bank of the Vltava. It offers a total of 19,800 m² of office space, 2200 m² of retail and services and over 250 parking places in underground garages.
