Aedas appoints Head of Retail

In response to growth opportunities in the retail sector, Aedas has appointed Darrel Owens, former Head of Architecture and Design Development for Asda Walmart as Head of Retail (Europe).

Having held senior positions as both client and consultant, Owens has delivered projects for retail parks, supermarkets, mixed-use and high density schemes, town and city centre master plans and multiple roll-out programmes. His most recent experience at Asda Walmart included responsibility for the national site and building design where he delivered over 3 million sq ft of new retail space.

Owens has a long-standing history working alongside the UK’s most prominent developers including Bride Hall and Peel Properties. He has also completed a number of mixed-use and multi-level schemes in Europe, India and the United States. With a focus to secure design projects in the UK and mainland Europe, Owens will work closely with Divisional Director, Marcus Wilkins to build upon existing strategy.
