100 metre cranes at PlacUniiLubelskiej in Warsaw

PlacUnii
Construction of the PlacUnii office and retail complex in Warsaw, an investment of Liebrecht&wooD and BBI Development NFI, is now being supported by five tower cranes. At the most advanced stage of the construction work, when the 90-metre high skyscraper will be erected, two of those cranes will be almost 100 metre high.

A tower crane is one of the most important machines used in the construction process. Thanks to its modular structure, it can grow together with the growing building. These machines transport heavy prefabricated elements, concrete, steel and other materials to any place at the construction site. Currently, 5 cranes of similar heights are working at PlacuUnii. At the most advanced stage of the construction work, when the 90-metre high skyscraper will be erected, two of those cranes will reach the height of almost 100 metres each. The crane with the largest reach operates within a 45 metre radius. The remaining machines have a 40 and 35 metre reach. The maximum load of the most powerful crane is 12.5 tonnes at the mast and 2.5 tonnes at the end of the working arm.

PlacUnii will be a complex of three office buildings connected with a glass roof at the height of thirty meters above the ground. The 90-metre skyscraper will be erected between two six-storey buildings located along Boya-Żeleńskiego and Puławska streets. The office space of the project takes up 41,000 sq m. The complex will also provide a 15,500 sq m shopping area, called “the City Gallery”, with many shops, restaurants, cafes, laundry service and Supersam delicatessen. The end of construction works and opening of PlacUnii is planned for October 2013.
